The regional research team was outgrowing its space and finding it difficult to effectively collaborate with the cancer clinical trials team.
Thanks to donors and to the advocacy of Arleen Barnett, former Providence Portland Medical Foundation board chair, regional research moved into newly remodeled space in October. “It is a beautiful space, with great use of natural light and sit/stand desks for about 50 workstations. Everyone is very pleased,” said Mary Healy, director of the regional research department.
At the open house in November, the new Arleen Barnett Conference Room was revealed. It was named for the former PPMC Foundation board chair who ensured that the project moved forward despite a capital freeze. The announcement was a surprise for Arleen. She was thrilled and humbled with the honor.
