Jessica’s mom died of cancer in January 2015. Jessica was determined to “take this bad situation and do something good with it,” she said. That’s why she suggested putting together “chemo care kits.”
“It’s a simple way to brighten a patient’s day,” said Diana Fisher, executive director of the Providence Newberg Health Foundation. “Generous donors made these bags possible. This year’s Heart of Gold event raised funds for this project. We are so very grateful to everyone for their support.”

As Jessica’s mom went through chemotherapy, she liked to have things to distract her and comfort her. She would do word search puzzles for hours.
The bags are filled with items that might come in useful to patients: a journal, soft blanket, nail care kit, a recipe book for cancer patients, and much more. When patients come for their first treatment of chemotherapy, they will receive one of the bags.
It is only through your support that we can provide these bags to our patients. Thank you for helping ease the journey for cancer patients
