As a leading national health care provider, Providence St. Joseph Health is committed to playing a prominent role in identifying and treating patients affected with the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. (Please click here for helpful information about COVID-19 from PSJH.)
On March 18, Providence in Oregon became the first health system in Oregon to begin analyzing coronavirus tests -- a significant milestone in increasing statewide capacity to process tests. Our Providence lab in northeast Portland received enough supplies to process results for 2,000 to 3,000 people, with more supplies expected to arrive soon.
During this time, philanthropy matters more than ever. A number of you have asked how you can support Providence Foundations of Oregon in this work.
Here's what you can do:

Support Providence in your local community
Consider donating to the "area of greatest need" fund for your local Providence foundation. As our hospitals work to ensure they have enough supplies and equipment to support increased demand, we know foundation funds will help them. A gift to your local foundation can help care for an influx of patients as needs arise.
Additionally, we anticipate some of our caregivers - who are on the front line of the fight against COVID-19 - will face hardships within their families and may need additional financial assistance. Your gift to the "area of greatest need" can help support these dedicated caregivers who are working tirelessly to provide the best possible care for our patients.

As everyone in the Providence family works together to care for our patients and communities, please know how much we value you, our donors and supporters. Because of you and your support, Providence is able to provide exceptional patient care and scientific research that benefits everyone in our communities - through good times and bad.
Thank you for your continued support of Providence, and please reach out to Kelly Buechler, our chief philanthropy officer, or the executive director of your local Providence foundation if you have questions or need anything. We are here for you.
