Imagine you can’t get up out of your favorite easy chair. And if you can’t get up, you can’t stay in your home. That’s what happened recently to one of our Home Health patients. “Rose” had trouble getting out of her chair. A friend found a special sit-stand chair for her, but it was missing a critical part. The chair wouldn’t lift up all the way.
Thanks to you, we were able to purchase the missing part for Rose’s chair. She is able to get up and move about, and with this help, she can continue to live at home.
Home Health provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to homebound patients to keep them safe at home. Because of you, the nurses and therapists have an equipment fund to draw from for those small pieces of needed equipment that are not covered by a patient’s insurance. Something as simple as a $30 reacher can make the difference in keeping a patient safe.
Mental health nurses are also available to our Home Health patients. We are the only provider in the Benedictine service area to offer this service.
Along with providing care for patients with mental illness, our mental health nurses are essential in being able to educate the family.
The nurses help family members understand their loved one’s illness and what precautions can be put into place to keep them safe at home.
