Yvonne Cooper’s heart was failing.
Doctors at Providence Heart Institute had placed a small pump called a left-ventricle assist device into her heart but she desperately needed a heart transplant.
Yvonne was worried about who would care for her young grandchildren if something happened to her.
Her doctors referred her to the transplant program at the University of Washington. Yvonne had to travel to Seattle for her transplant that took her away from the family support network she has in Portland. This created financial hardships, as she had to stay in Seattle for an extended period after her surgery.
Thanks to you, Yvonne’s financial challenges were eased by Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation, through a grant to our community partner Project Access Now, allowing her to focus on her recovery.
Thank you for making a difference for Yvonne as well as the many others just like her.
