Brian Chesebro, M.D., a Providence Portland anesthesiologist, made national news (including features on NPR and the Los Angeles Times) for his innovative work to reduce hospitals’ greenhouse gas emissions.
He discovered that one type of anesthesia remains in the atmosphere for 14 years versus another type that stays in the atmosphere for only one year.
Both types are equally safe and effective for patients. His work is now spreading throughout other Providence hospitals.
